Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and Median household income is $37,357, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thoughts? Appreciate any input.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Charlotte about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been in East for 11 years. Moved from Baltimore for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is average - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Chain restaurants dominate. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
