Considering Massena vs Kansas City -help me decide

Hello, Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $99,200 on average. You can expect to pay around $680 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Austin about 13 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.
