Moving to Mastic Beach -what should I know?
Hey, Rent is about $2,342/month for a decent place. Any advice would be great.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 8 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Cedar Grove area are excellent. Kids love it here.
