Couple moving to Meadow Lakes from out of state

First post here. Worth the trade-offs? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Lakewood area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Miami it's better than expected.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 6 years. Moved from Dallas for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is solid - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Far from beaches/mountains. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
