OK so The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. With a population of 8,994, Meadow Lakes is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,308 for rent here. Median household income is $81,250, which feels pretty solid for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much stable but now it's surprisingly good.

I work in healthcare here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
