First time home buyer in Menifee

I'm a remote worker and Crime rate is something to consider -Menifee sits at 153.3 per 100K. It's a a mid-size city city with about 107K people. Median household income is $89,183, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $2,052 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Friendly people
- Good schools
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- High property taxes
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Not enough green space
Should I be concerned? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely solid and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (South) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Eastside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.

Bought a house here in 2016 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 8 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is tough in most areas.

I've lived in Highland for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.
