Commute times in Menlo Park -how bad?

Curious what people think. I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $206,588, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $2,000,001 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Worth the trade-offs?

I work in legal here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is decent. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Nashville about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
