Things that make Menlo Park unique

I work in energy and Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $2,000,001 on average. Rent is about $3,156/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 32,775 people. The median home value here is around $2,000,001, which is pretty steep. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- High property taxes
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I've lived in Highland for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The cultural scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2024 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.
