Curious what people think. Rent is about $1,293/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Thanks in advance! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Eastside area are decent. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Nashville it's decent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Austin about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 2 years. Moved from Minneapolis for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Far from beaches/mountains. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.
