Merced vs Boston -which is better?

Hey folks, I'm single, late 50s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Merced sits at 644.0 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Merced? Thanks in advance! Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Mexican places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
