First post here. I'm originally from Miami and Crime rate is something to consider -Merced sits at 644.0 per 100K. Median household income is $59,938, which feels about average for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.
