Been meaning to ask this. I work in real estate and Crime rate is something to consider -Mi Ranchito Estate sits at 241.7 per 100K. Poverty rate is 12.4%, which is around average. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The walkability is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in government. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Italian.
