Job hunting in Milwaukee — tips?

Hey everyone, I work in logistics and The median home value here is around $172,000, which is actually reasonable. It's a a major city city with about 570K people. Crime rate is something to consider — Milwaukee sits at 1,332.5 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Anyone in a similar situation? Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Hope this helps!.
