Milwaukee quality of life — am I missing something?

Random thought, I've been here for 18 years and Poverty rate is 18.6%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $172,000 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,033 for rent here. Household incomes average around $51,888 in Milwaukee. Crime rate is something to consider — Milwaukee sits at 1,332.5 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Strong sense of community
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- High property taxes
- Chain restaurants dominate
What are your go-to spots? Appreciate any input. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up.
