nonprofit jobs in Milwaukee - any luck?

OK honest question -

My wife and I moved here from Boston about 6 years ago. I've never felt unsafe walking around Wauwatosa at night.

I saw that rent in Wauwatosa is now /mo which is expected. Median income here is around which {inc_feel}.

What I like:
- Growing job market
- Nice downtown area
- Active community events
- Lots of new restaurants opening
- Pet-friendly city

What I don't:
- Rising rent
- Road conditions
- Parking is a nightmare
- Wind never stops

Nightlife is decent if you know where to go. The education scene here is really picking up.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Walker's Point local here. Downtown has improved dramatically since I first moved here.. If you need specific recommendations feel free to ask.

Gonna share a detailed perspective since most replies are pretty surface-level.

I'm a travel nurse in Glendale. Been here since 2017. The community in {hood} is really tight-knit..

Neighborhood-wise, Glendale has really changed in the past few years. Whitefish Bay is the up-and-coming spot right now. Wauwatosa is where I'd look if budget is a concern.

Job market for finance: decent. For nonprofit: pricey.

I've never felt unsafe walking around {hood} at night.

OK let me break this down from someone who's been here a while.

Brady Street vs Bay View: completely different vibes. Brady Street is more pretty good with walkable streets and local shops. Bay View is lively and better for retirees.

Cost-wise, expect /mo minimum for anything decent in Brady Street. In Bay View you can find stuff for /mo.

I feel like {city} is becoming more expensive without getting better.. Downtown has improved dramatically since I first moved here.
