Anyone regret moving to Minden?

I'm originally from Albuquerque and Rent is about $803/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Minden? The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 40, moved here 2 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Westside and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The community vibe situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for singles. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
