Is Minden worth moving to in 2026?

I've been here for 7 years and Homes are going for about $116,700 on average. With a population of 11,604, Minden is a small town. Median household income is $29,597, which feels on the lower side for the area. Household incomes average around $29,597 in Minden. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Hope this helps!.
