Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I work in real estate here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is pretty good. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Raleigh it's better than expected.

I've been here 4 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is solid.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Sunset area are tough. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
