Hi all, I'm a 32-year-old real estate agent and The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. With a population of 6,001, Mocksville is a small town. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 10 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is surprisingly good. Tons of great BBQ places. I love the pace of life here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 13 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I work in government here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.
