Rent is about $2,009/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $2,009 for rent here. With a population of 37,553, Monrovia is a smaller city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I overthinking this? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 13 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in East for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The community vibe scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..
