Career opportunities in Monterey, CA

Curious what people think. With a population of 29,772, Monterey is a smaller city. Rent is about $2,288/month for a decent place. Median household income is $104,110, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Worth the trade-offs? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Phoenix about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
