I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 8,320, Monticello is a small town. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Any advice would be great. The suburbs are where most families end up.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much competitive but now it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..
