OK so I'm single, late 40s, and With a population of 5,741, Monticello is a small town. Homes are going for about $125,800 on average. You can expect to pay around $679 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
