Cost of living reality check -Moodys

Hello, Been living here since 2017. You can expect to pay around $675 for rent here. With a population of 1,128, Moodys is a small town. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 36, moved here 6 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Pine Hills and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The nightlife situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 7 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor recreation is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
