Alright, My partner and I are The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 35,957 people. The median home value here is around $852,800, which is pretty steep. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Let me know your thoughts. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from New York about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is tough.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Oak Park for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The food scene scene is underrated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The pet-friendliness is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
