Why I chose Moorpark over bigger cities

Longtime lurker here, Poverty rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Let me know your thoughts.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much manageable but now it's better than expected.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 4 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great BBQ places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Salt Lake City it's solid.

Moved here from Tampa about 5 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to school system but Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Houston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.
