Considering Morro Bay vs Salt Lake City -help me decide

Hello, Median household income is $92,553, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $864,900 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 8 years. Moved from Dallas for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Bugs and humidity in summer. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is underrated in most areas.

I've been in South for 11 years. Moved from Austin for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Limited entertainment options. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 6 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for family and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The school system is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
