What surprised you most about Moyock?

The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 5,669 people. Homes are going for about $391,800 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Diverse community
- Strong sense of community
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Boring for young people
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
