Is Myrtle Grove getting better or worse?

Hey folks, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $398,600 on average. Poverty rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,523/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Strong sense of community
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Not very walkable
- High property taxes
- Far from major airports
- Not enough green space

I've lived in Old Town for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The healthcare scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Definitely worth checking out..

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 3 years. Moved from San Diego for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Homeless population growing downtown. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
