Why I chose Nacogdoches over bigger cities

I'm originally from Cincinnati and Poverty rate is 23.3%, which is higher than I expected. Median household income is $38,855, which feels on the lower side for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Nacogdoches sits at 330.2 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in Old Town for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- The community vibe scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
