Hey everyone, I've been here for 11 years and Rent is about $970/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What are your go-to spots? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
