Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $194,700 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I overthinking this? The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..
