How safe is New Braunfels really?

I've been looking at the stats and New Braunfels shows relatively low crime stats. But stats don't always tell the full story. For people who actually live there — do you feel safe? Are there areas to avoid?

I'm especially interested in hearing from families with young kids.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Maple Heights. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Check out the Pine Grove area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

Coming from Dallas, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are cheaper.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Respectfully disagree about the job market. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.
