Is New Braunfels a good place to live?
First post here. I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -New Braunfels sits at 246.9 per 100K. Median household income is $88,257, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,536/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.
Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons:
- Cold winters
- Rising rent prices
- High property taxes
- Poor road conditions
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Thoughts? TIA! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
