Healthcare options in New London?

Curious what people think. Just moved here 17 months ago and With a population of 1,118, New London is a small town. Poverty rate is 19.6%, which is higher than I expected. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Would love some local perspective. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The healthcare is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely challenging and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Highland) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
