Cost of living reality check -Newmarket
I'm a teacher here and It's a a small town city with about 5,730 people. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Anyone in a similar situation? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.
