Anyone else love living in Norris City?

Random thought, I relocated for work and It's a a small town city with about 1,613 people. Household incomes average around $37,778 in Norris City. The unemployment rate is 7.8%, which is concerning. The median home value here is around $80,800, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

I've lived in The Heights for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- The outdoor recreation scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 54, moved here 10 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The dating scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for couples. average vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
