Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $2,161 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 49,498 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Has anyone dealt with this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 11 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've lived in Westside for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The public transit scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
