Hey everyone, I'm a 40-year-old lawyer and Rent is about $2,161/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for North Bethesda? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The pet-friendliness scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
