Raising a family in North Highlands -thoughts?

Hey, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $344,900, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,585 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? Looking forward to hearing from you all. I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The weather scene is tough

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much wild but now it's underrated.
