Random thought, I'm a remote worker and Poverty rate is 30.3%, which is higher than I expected. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Chicago about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
