Life in North Liberty as a young professional

Alright, It's a a small town city with about 20,782 people. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 6 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into running, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 51, moved here 8 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Highland and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The dating scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Nashville it's hit or miss.

Bought a house here in 2015 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
