I've been here for 5 years and Rent is about $1,226/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -North Liberty sits at 348.5 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I overthinking this? Any help is appreciated. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Tampa about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.
