Hello, It's a a small town city with about 15,225 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What do you all think? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in Sunset for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The weather scene is improving
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely average and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Eastside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
