Is it worth buying in Norton Shores?

Hello, Rent is about $1,286/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What would you do? Thanks! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Minneapolis it's solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 4 years. Moved from Baltimore for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is tough - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Road conditions need improvement. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
