Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 2 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in The Heights for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The job market scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Miami about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 39, moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in South and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Can feel isolated
3. The safety situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for family and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor recreation is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Background: I'm a accountant, 52, moved here 1 years ago from Austin. I've lived in East and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Close to major attractions
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Can feel isolated
3. The outdoor recreation situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 6 years. Moved from Minneapolis for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is improving - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Dating scene is rough. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
