From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Chicago about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 15 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much stable but now it's improving.

I've lived in The Heights for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong sense of community
- The school system scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 9 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
