Best neighborhoods to rent in Norwalk?

Curious what people think. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $98,709, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 101K, Norwalk is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider -Norwalk sits at 411.2 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Nice parks and trails
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Is this normal for Norwalk? The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from New York about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely average and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Midtown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for work and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The walkability is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
