Unpopular opinion about Orange Beach

So, Crime rate is something to consider -Orange Beach sits at 246.8 per 100K. Homes are going for about $476,000 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,339 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots? Cheers. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Oak Park area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I've lived in The Heights for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- The food scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Phoenix about 8 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..
