Hello, Military spouse here. Median household income is $73,088, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $175,600, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 1,135, Oxford is a small town. Household incomes average around $73,088 in Oxford. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Baltimore about 12 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 10 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Highland for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Meadowbrook for 14 years. Moved from San Francisco for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Property taxes are high. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is tough
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
